January teaches Research in Education, Principles of Teaching, The Teacher and The School Curriculum, and The Teaching Profession. 

January Dechavez finished her Master of Education (Educational Research, Evaluation and Assessment) at Flinders University, Australia. Upon graduation she received the Chancellor’s Letter of Commendation for outstanding academic performance in December 19, 2018. She also received an Academic Excellence Award (Postgraduate Coursework) – International Student Awards 2018 awarded at Government House; Adelaide South Australia on19th of October 2018. Her dissertation focused on Student Aggression and Victimization in the Philippines and its impact on student well-being, which was presented in an international conference in Sydney, Australia in 2018. She also co-authored an article "Barkada - Not always a friend: Peer aggression in the Philippines" in 2019. In 2020, she investigated the Mental Health Profile of Technical-Vocational Pre-Service Teachers in the Philippines. Her research endeavours focus on educational research methods, student well-being and peer aggression, and communicative competence. She is an active member of the Golden Key international honour society; Australian Association for Research in Education; Philippine Statistical Association, Inc.; World Education Research Association; Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators, Inc.; Asia Pacific Consortium of Researchers and Educators; and, Asian Qualitative Research Association.
